Justice Minister Nela Kuburović met today with USAID Serbia Director Mike de la Rosa to discuss joint activities of the Ministry of Justice and USAID implemented through this Agency’s projects.

The Justice Minister and USAID Director concurred that the USAID had for many years been providing significant support to the Ministry of Justice so that it could best carry out its activities aimed at enhancing the work of the Serbia’s judiciary. They confirmed that USAID’s projects continuously supported the promotion of the rule of law and anti-corruption efforts.

Minister Kuburović pointed out that one such project was the on-going “Rule of Law” project, which had already brought about significant results. She said that the project significantly supported the development of the first working draft of the new National Strategy for Advancing the Work of the Judiciary in Serbia for the following five-year period, while also focusing on strengthening the capacity of the State Attorney's Office. As the Minister revealed, the project provided support also to the members of the working group tasked with drafting amendments to the Enforcement and Security Act, one of the biggest novelties being the establishment of the e-Auction platform which would ensure full transparency and verifiability of property sale by public enforcement officers.

Minister Kuburović said that the Ministry of Justice was already working on the creation of electronic bulletin boards in courts, which would enable citizens to have online access to all information related to a dispute case they might have. She added that the Ministry would appreciate USAID support for this activity as well.
