False and Malicious Claims Regarding Alleged Differences Between the Texts Submitted to the Venice Commission and the Texts Before the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia
The Ministry of Justice strongly condemns the false and inaccurate claims circulated in the public domain that the legislative texts submitted to the Venice Commission are not the same as those currently before the Members of the National Assembly.
Such allegations are aimed at discrediting the work of state institutions and misleading both the domestic and international public, as certain actors are evidently dissatisfied by the fact that the Republic of Serbia is moving forward with reforms aimed at enhancing the efficiency of judicial institutions and has received positive recognition from the Venice Commission for those efforts.
In this regard, Minister of Justice Nenad Vujić emphasized that the only difference between the text before the Members of the National Assembly and the text submitted to the Venice Commission is that the version before the National Assembly is in the Serbian language.
He further recalled that the draft laws are publicly available on the Venice Commission’s website in English, which, together with French, is one of the Commission’s official languages.
- Unfounded comments regarding alleged differences between the texts are malicious and reveal far more about those who have made such statements than about any mistake on the part of the Republic of Serbia. On the contrary, the Republic of Serbia is a serious state that is committed to the careful and responsible development of its legal framework,” Minister Vujić stressed.
