By the end of this year, the Administration for the Enforcement of Penal Sanctions will have offered permanent contracts to 298 employees in prison correctional institutions (PCIs)—all for the purpose of strengthening the security system. This brings the total of permanent hires since 2018 to over 600.
The majority of this year’s 298 employees will have been assigned to the largest department of the system—the Security Services Department, with 133 members assigned to 24 institutions. Out of these, 81 member reported to duty at 6 institutions in the month of June, 24 new commanding officers began working at the PCI in Sremska Mitrovica (the largest in the country), 25 in the Belgrade District Prison (the largest detention unit), 18 in the PCI in Belgrade, 6 in the PCI in Šabac, 5 in the Special Prison Hospital in Belgrade, and 3 in the Kraljevo District Prison.
Earlier this year, the Administration also recruited employees on permanent posts in all its other departments: the Department of Training and Development, and the Department of Health-Care Services, the Department of General Services, and the Department of Treatment and Alternative Sentencing. This round of recruitments included the Security Services Department, as well.
By way of a reminder, there were 140 permanent hires in 2019, and 170 in 2018. Out of those, 120 had entered into a permanent employment contract with the new PCI in Pančevo which opened on 1 October 2018.
The Administration will continue to strengthen the staffing capacities and to employ across all its departments, at the same time ensuring the employees’ continual training and development.
