Justice Minister Maja Popović has offered her condolences on the passing of Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral to the Serbian Orthodox Church and His Holiness Irinej, the Serbian Patriarch. In her condolence telegram, Minister Popović said she had received news of the Metropolitan Amfilohije’s passing with great sadness and in disbelief.
‘Metropolitan Amfilohije will remain in our hearts and minds as a bishop of deep faith and an important confessor of the Orthodox faith, for he as such had been throughout his life. Owing to his efforts and dedication, the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral together with other eparchies in Montenegro have undergone a great spiritual renewal,’ Minister Popović wrote. She noted that the Republic of Serbia and the entirety of the Serbian people had, thus, lost one of its greatest spiritual guides whose wise words and great deeds would be remembered for generations to come.
