Today, Assistant Justice Minister Slavica Jelača and Mayor of Kragujevac Nikola Dašić visited the Palace of Justice in Kragujevac, which is currently under construction. Once completed, the Palace of Justice will house all 11 judicial organs of the city of Kragujevac. Spanning 25,000 square metres, it is the largest infrastructural project initiated by the Ministry of Justice in the past several decades and fully funded through the Budget of the Republic of Serbia.

Ms Jelača emphasised that, with the completed construction of the Palace of Justice, conditions for a more efficient and a better judicature in Kragujevac and its 800 staff would be created. She explained that the construction project was another example of the Justice Ministry’s efforts to improve the judicial infrastructure which had been neglected until 2012.

‘In addition to the Palace of Justice in Belgrade, this project has been one of the most serious undertakings, and a tremendously important one considering the very importance of the City of Kragujevac,’ Ms Jelača said. She added that, given the current pace of the construction, the works would be completed ahead of schedule.

The Mayor of Kragujevac concurred that the construction project was of great importance for the city, which along with other major projects and investments, was a signal that Kragujevac was being recognised as the centre of the region.

The construction of the Palace of Justice in Kragujevac began at the end of August 2018, when Justice Minister Nela Kuburović laid the foundation stone.
