The Ministry of Justice commends the start of the application of the regulation on the issuance of excerpts from the Real Estate and Utilities Register, which incorporates the Ministry’s recommendations enabling Serbia’s citizens to obtain such excerpts from the public notaries. The subject regulation entered into force today, and its full official title is: Regulation on the Terms and Conditions for Public Notaries and Geodetic Organisations Issuing Excerpts from the Real Estate and Utilities Register stored in the Geodetic Cadastre Information System.
Owing to the E-Justice Information system (electronic exchange of data between judicial and other bodies), public notaries are now able to issue citizens with excerpts from the Real Estate and Utilities Register with a single click.
The Ministry of Justice notes that the issuance of excerpts from the Real Estate and Utilities Register, which is necessary to conclude any affair or procedure typically done at a public notary’s office, is free of charge. Citizens will only be charged a fee if the excerpt is needed for matters outside of the scope of notarial services. The corresponding fee is significantly lower than was previously the case.
Citizens are no longer required to make two separate visits to the cadastre service desks, once to submit their request for excerpt issuance and once to collect the excerpt. Instead, they will now be able to obtain the excerpt from the Real Estate and Utilities Register at their public notary’s office.
The Regulation also stipulates that in case of real-estate transactions, i.e. when selling or acquiring property, citizens do not have to obtain an excerpt from the Real Estate and Utilities Register themselves because their public notary – in their ex officio capacity – access the records kept in the central Real Estate Cadastre.
