The Government of the Republic of Serbia has adopted a Decision on the Awarding of Funds Collected on the basis of Non-Prosecution Agreements (the so-called ‘opportunity funds’), by which 500 million dinars have been allocated to 130 projects of public interest.

This year, the Ministry of Justice conducted the fifth public call for the awarding of the opportunity funds, up until which over 2 billion dinars had been awarded to projects of public interest. The largest portion of this year’s funds has been awarded to health-care projects – 236,891,692 dinars, which is nearly half of the total funds, whereas education projects received 162,775,139 dinars, projects dealing with social protection issues 41,395,651 dinars, culture projects 31,431,776 dinars, and projects in all other areas 27,505,742 dinars.

Some of the awarded institutions have been the Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera Torlak, the Clinical Hospital Centre Dr. Dragiša Mišović, the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinic Narodni front (the National Front), the Blood Transfusion Institute of Serbia, the National Institute of Occupational Health Care Serbian Railways, the Belgrade Emergency Medical Service, numerous hospitals, primary health-care institutes... Other beneficiaries have included multiple schools and pre-schools, the University of Belgrade, the Red Cross, the National Association of Parents of Children with Cancer Nurdor, the Association of Parents, Care-takers, Children and Friends of Children with Malignant Diseases Čika Boca (Mr Prickle), etc.

Opportunity funds will also be awarded to projects by the Historical Archives of Belgrade, the National Museum Toplice in Prokuplje, the Music Night project, the Belgrade Rolleriad project...

The implementation of all of these projects will strengthen the capacity of health-care institutes, it will improve the health care of citizens, the education infrastructure and the social welfare system, and it will raise the cultural potential of our country.
