The Penal Correctional Institution (PCI) for women in Požarevac and PCIs in Sremska Mitrovica and Niš have started the production of face masks in their sewing workshops to contribute to the implementation of measures to prevent the spread of the COVID-19. The masks are to meet the demand for this product across the entire penal sanctions enforcement system. They are sewn by convicts who have completed a cutting and sewing course organised at the sewing workshops.
Both disposable and reusable face masks are produced, intended primarily for employees and persons deprived of their liberty (convicts and detainees), as well as for visitors who do not bring along their own masks. All PCIs arrange visits in accordance with prevention and protection measures.
The three PCIs already started distributing the masks which have been in use in other PCIs for a week now. Mask production is another in a series of protection measures taken by the Penal Sanctions Enforcement Administration against the spread of the COVID-19 without imposing any additional burden on the Serbian budget.
