The Ministry of Justice has assumed the coordination and leadership role in drafting a statute toregulate the manner of introduction and functioning of the so-called ‘Amber alert’, which shouldcontribute to a more efficient and faster search for missing children.
The Ministry of Justice has recently formed a joint working group composed of representativesof the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of the Interior. The working group will be expandedto include representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information and the Ministry of Trade,Tourism and Telecommunications. As one of the most important elements of successfulfunctioning of the Amber alert, the media will also have their representatives who will beconsulted and involved in the statute drafting process.
The representatives of the Ministry have also met with those from the Tijana Jurić Foundationwhich launched the Amber alert initiative. On that occasion the Ministry of Justice expressed itsown and the entire country’s unequivocal support for introducing the Amber alert to ensurebetter and more efficient child protection.
The introduction of such system will be yet another step by the state aimed at improving thechild protection system through cooperation between all relevant institutions and support fromcitizens and the media.
