The National Convention on the European Union (NCEU) Working Group on Chapter 23 convened today to discuss the judiciary area of the second draft revision of the Chapter 23 Action Plan.
Assistant Justice Minister Čedomir Backović said on that occasion that the drafting process was in progress, expressing his hope for the final version of the document to be completed shortly after that round of consultation and dialogue with the NCEU. ‘We have no time to spare. I hope that we will complete this job ensuring that all participants are equally satisfied with the end result,’ he added.
A member of the Serbia’s EU Accession Negotiating Team Jugoslav Milačić noted that ‘a more advanced phase’ of the Chapter 23 Action Plan revision process was ahead. He indicated that Serbia had enough time to finalise and adopt the Chapter 23 Action Plan before the Annual Progress Report was published, which, in his view, would certainly be recognised by the Report as a positive step. Mr Milačić also touched upon the accession method recently proposed by the EU and its impact on Serbia’s European integration process.
The Working Group Coordinator Jovana Spremo also spoke at the meeting.
