The Ministry of Justice, in cooperation with the EU for Justice − Chapter 23 Support Project, has organised the second training session for its employees and colleagues from other judicial institutions involved in the Chapter 23 negotiations. The training sessions serve to strengthen the capacity of civil servants required to report and monitor progress in meeting the measures and the objectives defined in the Action Plan for the Negotiating Chapter 23 in the field of human rights.

More specifically, employees of relevant institutions had the opportunity to advance their practical skills so that they could adequately respond to the requirements of Chapter 23, as well as other requirements arising from human rights reporting mechanisms and the implementation of their recommendations. One segment of the training focused on the practical aspects of the reporting process, in the attempt to improve the efficiency and the effectiveness of this process while applying the various acquired knowledge and skills related to human and minority rights protected under the United Nations, the Council of Europe and the Chapter 23 Action Plan.

The first two-day training session was organised for the Ministry of Justice employees on 11−12 December 2019. This training was about the European standards in the field of human rights, and the ways in which the employees could and should monitor the relevant United Nations human rights mechanisms.
