More than 200 final-year secondary school students and their teachers from the territory of ​​the City of Niš School Administration attended the Anti-Corruption Lesson held on 11 December 2019 at the School of Economics in Niš.

Elements of corruption, how to recognise it, to whom to report it, and how to prevent this adverse social phenomenon – these were the topics discussed with prosecutors, police officers and judges fighting corruption on a daily basis, and representatives of the Anti-Corruption Agency and of Transparency Serbia and Pištaljka (whistle) non-governmental organisations.

In her opening statement, Assistant Mayor of Niš Marina Kostić said that corruption was the scourge of modern times and stressed the importance of pre-emptive action.

Roman Prah, Prevention and Fight against Corruption project Team Leader, addressed the participants with a brief message that it was vital to break the corruption chain and to make sure that each one of us could ‘Say No to Corruption!’, which is the campaign’s slogan.

This third Lesson was organised under the above-mentioned EU-funded project implemented in cooperation with the Serbian Ministry of Justice and the National Public Prosecutor’s Office as part of a campaign to raise public awareness about the importance of corruption prevention and fight against corruption.

The campaign’s aim is to improve the public understanding of the corruption issue and of the systems and mechanisms for combating and preventing corruption, the special focus being on youth education and information. The anti-corruption lesson was also attended by Dragan Marinčić and Mirjana Vlahović from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Head of the Niš School Administration Dragan Gejo, School of Economics Head Teacher Dragan Aleksić and many others.

Anti-corruption lessons were held in Kraljevo, Novi Sad and Niš, and the next one will take place at the Agricultural Science and Chemistry School in Obrenovac on 17 December 2019.
