A public hearing on the proposed text of the National Strategy on the Rights of Victims andWitnesses of Crime in the Republic of Serbia 2019−2025 began today and will last until 17December 2019. The proposed text of the accompanying Action Plan will also be discussed.

The purpose of the adoption of the above documents is to improve the status of victims andwitnesses of crimes in accordance with the European Union standards, which stems from thestrategic commitment to ensure that all victims and witnesses of crimes enjoy an adequate levelof procedural rights, and to provide them with systemic and professional assistance and support,including special protection for particularly vulnerable categories of victims.

Interested parties may send their comments, proposals and suggestions to iva.kovacevic@mpravde.gov.rs or to the Ministry of Justice, 22−26 Nemanjina St., Belgrade.

The Ministry hereby invites the relevant government authorities, civil society representatives,professionals in the field and other stakeholders to take part in the public hearing.

Upon completion of the public hearing, the Ministry of Justice will review all the comments,proposals and suggestions received, prepare a report on the conducted public hearing, andpublish it on the Justice Ministry website (www.mpravde.gov.rs) and the e-Government Portal.

The public hearing agenda, which is to include the proposed text of the Strategy and annexesstipulated in the Government Rules of Procedure, will also be published on the Justice Ministrywebsite and the e-Government Portal.
