Justice Minister Nela Kuburović met with her Montenegrin counterpart Zoran Pažin in Belgrade, on the sidelines of the International Conference Fight against Corruption for Prosperity in South-East Europe, to discuss cooperation between their respective Ministries and the European Union (EU) integration processes of the two countries.

Minister Kuburović and Minister Pažin concurred that the relations between the Ministries and the judicial authorities of the two countries were good, and indicated that a further sharing of experiences in the field of justice was required, particularly given the fact that both countries aspired to a full EU membership.

The two Justice Ministers also discussed the work of judicial professions and the development of e-Justice, with particular focus on constitutional amendments currently underway in both countries.

During the bilateral meeting, the Ministers signed a Protocol granting the SAPA programme source code to the Directorate for Execution of Criminal Sanctions of Montenegro, as a deed of donation from Serbia’s Ministry of Justice to the counterpart authority of Montenegro.

SAPA is a piece of software which runs 24/7 and allows for the introduction of uniform standards for the operation of penal sanctions enforcement institutions, monitoring of relevant data on persons deprived of their liberty, improvement of the efficiency of the penal and correctional system, as well as immediate data analysis and control of the work of all Directorate institutions.

Minister Pažin thanked the Serbian Ministry of Justice for the software which he believed would contribute to a better functioning of prisons in Montenegro.
