The Ministry of Justice, with the assistance from the EU for Justice – Support for Chapter 23 Project, has organised a two-day workshop on improving the reporting on Chapter 23 Action Plan implementation for the. The aim of the workshop was to advance the knowledge and to improve the skills of employees of the relevant government institutions which were necessary for an effective monitoring and reporting on the implementation of Chapter 23 Action Plan.

Assistant Justice Minister and Head of the Negotiating Group for Chapter 23 Čedomir Backović addressed the participants at the start of the workshop, and presented to them the new proposed mechanism of monitoring and reporting on the implementation of Chapter 23 Action Plan. The workshop focused on the application of concise reports on implementation results and advancing the skills of contact persons in each of the relevant institutions who reported on the Action Plan implementation. The workshop participants are now familiar with the new ways of monitoring the reporting and the reporting methodology as proposed in the revised Action Plan.

Negotiating Group for Chapter 23 had prepared a draft of the revised Action Plan for Chapter 23. One of the reasons for the revision had been to improve the monitoring of the reporting mechanism, and to remove the previously noted shortcomings in the process. All the changes to the mechanism were explained in detail during the workshop, including the mechanism of an early alarm in cases of late implementation.
