A year ago, Justice Minister Nela Kuburovic laid the foundation stone of a new justice building in Kragujevac. It is the largest judicial infrastructure project of the past few decades, fully funded from the Budget of the Republic of Serbia.
All 11 judicial authorities in Kragujevac will be housed in the Palace of Justice. The building, with an area of nearly 25,000 square meters, is expected to be completed in a three-year timeline.
While laying the foundation stone, Minister Kuburović explained that the new building would provide adequate work conditions for justice sector officials and employees as well as better connectivity of all judicial authorities in the territory of the City of Kragujevac. "The new building will, above all, make justice more accessible to citizens, because all judicial authorities will be in one place," Minister Kuburovic emphasised.
The future Palace of Justice in Kragujevac will have 24 courtrooms, 74 judges’ quarters, and it will accommodate 800 employees. The total cost of construction is 2.91 billion dinars. The contractor is Strabag LLC Belgrade, with the City of Kragujevac having provided a two-acre parcel.
