On the occasion of the European Day of Justice, which is celebrated on 25 October each year, events for citizens, students and legal professionals are organised across Europe in order to bring justice to citizens, inform them of their rights and promote the work of the judiciary, through trial simulations, information sessions, trainings and seminars.
The Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia and the European Commission for the Efficiency of the Judiciary (CEPEJ) invite all judicial institutions, lawyers, notaries and associations to undertake activities to inform citizens about their rights and facilitate access to justice, and to inform the Ministry of Justice of such activities by e-mail (cepej@mpravde.gov.rs) as well as the CEPEJ by e-mail (cepej@coe.int) or by filling in the form available on the CEPEJ website.
In order to make the general public aware of the benefits of alternative dispute resolution, on the occasion of the European Day of Justice, courts in the Republic of Serbia are invited to organise a Settlement and Mediation Week to promote alternative dispute resolution. As part of that Week, hearings will be held to try to reach a court settlement or end the dispute through mediation.
In 2018, similar 41 event was organised in 17 European countries, with presidents and court representatives, notaries, lawyers and court employees particularly engaged. Also, many TV programmes were broadcast on national television channels, information videos were posted on social media, and conferences and trainings for law experts and students were held.
