The Public Notaries of the Republic of Serbia and the French Republic will expand their cooperation to include the field of digitalisation, while continuing to share experiences – it was stipulated in the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Serbian Ministry of Justice, the Serbian Chamber of Notaries and the French Notary High Council.

The purpose of the Memorandum ˗ signed by Assistant Justice Minister Ms Jelena Deretić, President of the Serbian Chamber of Notaries Mr Srbislav Cvejić and President of the High Council of the French Notary Mr Jean-François Humbert, at a signing ceremony at the Palace of Serbia, as part of the official visit of France’s President Emmanuel Macron to the Republic of Serbia ˗ is to advance the existing cooperation between the signatories and expand it to include the field of new technologies. By signing the Memorandum, the parties have committed to expanding the cooperation to the area of digitalising archives, notarial activities and documents, as well as the establishment of a register of wills.

The Memorandum was concluded for a period of two years after which it will be tacitly renewed for another two-year period each time. It stipulates that the long friendly relations between the French and the Serbian Notaries had allowed for a re-introduction of the notarial profession in Serbia, and confirms the existence of an undeniable mutual interest to promote cooperation in judicial matters, especially notarial matters.

To that effect, the Memorandum states that the French and the Serbian Notaries wish to continue to share their knowledge, visions and experiences in the field of notaries public, legal certainty and new technologies, with due compliance with the fundamental principles of equality and mutual benefit. For every activity defined under the Memorandum, each party will jointly set an agenda and allocate the needed resources, and each year make an overview of the activities conducted in order to make a plan of activities for the following year.

The will to continue sharing experiences and building a basis for a continued cooperation in the field of enforcement has been expressed in a form of signed Letter of Intent between the Ministry of Justice and the France’s National Bailiffs Chamber. The Letter ˗ signed by Assistant Justice Minister Ms Jelena Deretić and President of France’s National Bailiffs Chamber Mr Patrick Sannino ˗ represents an intention for further cooperation and exchange of data in the field of judicial cooperation as well as all other areas of mutual interest.
