Today, Assistant Justice Minister Jelena Deretić received the delegation of the Notary Chamber of Belarus. The delegation is on an official visit to Serbia to exchange experiences and to advance further the cooperation between the countries’ respective justice ministries and notary chambers.

The parties discussed all segments of automatisation of notarial work in Serbia and in Belarus, the scope of sub-delegated tasks and those within the notaries’ exclusive purview, as well as the role of the Ministry of Justice in controlling the work of this judicial profession and, consequently, in taking measures to strengthen it.

The notaries from Belarus showed the Ministry of Justice Belarus’ population registry to which they had access, explaining the advantages and the disadvantages of the tool, and how important using it was with respect to legal security.

Topics such as facilitation of an adequate solution for archiving notarial documents and a mutual recognition and acceptance of foreign notarial documents were also discussed. Both countries’ representatives concluded that future efforts towards strengthening the relations between the two countries ought to fall under another bilateral agreement.
