Today, Justice Minister Nela Kuburović received Slovenia’s State Prosecutor-General Drago Šketa who was on a long official visit to Serbia and the Republic Prosecutor’s Office.

Minister Kuburović and the State Prosecutor-General of Slovenia concurred that Serbia and Slovenia enjoyed good cooperation on all levels, particularly in judicial matters. They noted that the cooperation had been particularly intensive between the two countries’ respective Justice Ministries and the Prosecutor’s Offices.

The State Prosecutor-General stressed that Slovenia was supporting Serbia in joining the EU, as well as Serbia signing the special cooperation agreement with Eurojust. During his visit, the State Prosecutor-General and Serbia’s Republic Prosecutor Zagorka Dolovac signed a Memorandum on Cooperation aimed at advancing the two countries’ joint efforts in fighting organised crimes and at sharing knowledge and exchanging experiences. He added that Slovenia had only concluded two such agreements which were outside the EU framework, namely Serbia and Russia, which spoke of the quality and the importance of its cooperation Serbia’s prosecution authorities.

The Justice Minister expressed gratitude for Slovenia’s support to Serbia in the EU-accession process, noting that the signed Memorandum would significantly advance the cooperation between the two countries’ judicial organs.
