In today’s session, the members of the Working Body for Monitoring the Implementation of the National Strategy for the Prosecution of War Crimes adopted the Fourth Report on the Strategy Implementation for 1 January – 30 September 2018. The members discussed the dynamics of the Body’s future work and agreed to schedule the following session for January 2019 when they would focus on reviewing the report on the fourth quarter of the current year.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Chair of the Judicial Academy Nenad Vujić and attended by War Crimes Prosecutor Snežana Stanojković, Head of the Belgrade Appellate Court’s War Crimes Department Siniša Važić, a consultant in the Ministry of Justice Branislav Stojanović, Belgrade High Court judge Mirjana Ilić, a representative of the Ministry of Interior Protection Unit and the Chief of the War Crimes Detection Services within the Ministry of Interior.

In February 2016, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the National Strategy for the Prosecution of War Crimes for 2016-2020. The Strategy adoption was one of Serbia’s Chapter 23 Action Plan obligations and, as such, it has served as a clear sign that Serbia was committed to an effective prosecution of war crimes.
