Today, the members of the Working Body for the Monitoring of the Implementation of the National Strategy for War Crimes Processing held their first constituent meeting in which the Body’ Rules of Procedure were adopted and work plan defined.

The President of the Body, Minister of Justice Nela Kuburović said that it was not until the appointment of the new War Crimes Prosecutor that conditions for the establishment of the Working Body for the Monitoring of the Implementation of the National Strategy for War Crimes Processing were met.

Deputy President is the Director of the Judicial Academy Nenad Vujić and the members are: Assistant Justice Minister and Head of the Chapter 23 Negotiating Group Čedomir Backović, State Secretary in the Ministry of Interior Biljana Popović Ivković, War Crimes Prosecutor Snežana Stanojković, President of the Missing Persons Commission Veljko Odalović and members of the Belgrade Appellate Court, the Belgrade High Court, etc.

In February 2016, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the National Strategy for War Crimes Processing for the period 2016-2020. This was not only one of the Government’s obligations stemming from the Chapter 23 Action Plan, but also a clear proof of its dedication to an efficient processing of war crimes
