Yesterday, the Chapter 23 Action Plan Implementation Council, with the support of the Minister of Justice, presented the Fourth Report on the Action Plan Implementation to the Club of Representatives. The Minister of Justice Nela Kuburović said that it could be stated that, at the end of the last quarter, about 71 per cent of the activities planned to have been finalised by the end of 2016, could be considered executed. Kuburović pointed out that the most successful results were achieved in sub-chapter Basic Rights (89 percent), whereas less success was achieved in the field of anti-corruption.

She noted that the data on the Action Plan implementation showed that competent authorities were aware of the importance of assumed obligations and that they did their best to meet the set objectives. “I invite the designated Action Plan activity implementers to continue implementing their respective activities with the determination and enthusiasm of the members of the Chapter which has just been opened. [I hope] that we all have a more successful and better implementation of the Action Plan in 2017“, Kuburović said.

She reminded that it had been five months since the opening of the negotiating chapters 23 and 24, which were perhaps the most significant milestones in the Serbian process of European integrations, stressing that the Ministry of Justice would continue to implement the activities to which it had committed itself in the following period.

Kuburović added that the Ministry would also provide active support to the implementation of the principle of transparent and inclusive process of European integrations. “The special importance of Chapter 23 is essentially reflected in the important measures which will, if implemented consistently, bring positive changes; changes which the Serbian citizens will be able to feel“, Kuburović said.
